Event details: HKUST Big Data Institute (BDI) is excited to partner with NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute and launch a half-day practical Deep Learning Fundamentals Workshop. The workshop is exclusively for verifiable academic students, staff, and researchers. Deep learning is a hot topic in both academia and industry since it has recently dramatically improved the state-of-the-art research areas such as speech recognition, computer vision, prediction of drug molecule activities, and many other machine learning tasks. The basic idea in deep learning is to automatically learn to represent data in multiple layers of increasing abstraction, thus helping to discover intricate structure in large datasets. Event details: Hackathon@HKUST (hackUST) is 24-hr competition in which talents (including students and alumni) from different backgrounds (including software engineers, hardware engineers, business students, designers, and among others) can mingle together, transform creative ideas to real software/hardware prototypes, develop sound business plans, and present ideas with a concrete prototype to a judging panel consisting of faculty members, entrepreneurs, industry experts, representatives from non-government organizations, and others.
